(Worship begins at 10:30 in July and August)
How and Why
Brethren believe that “church” is the people and not the building. So worship is something the people do together rather than something that is done for them. Our worship services blend traditional and contemporary elements. They include special time with the children before the younger ones go to Children’s Church. We read scripture together and the sermon is biblically based. Our music, prayers, and litanies encourage women and men of all ages to participate fully and equally. All are welcome!
We worship because it is important to do so. By gathering together and turning our praise and prayers toward God who is both beyond and within people we join Jesus’ calling: To love God with everything we’ve got; and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
What to Expect
We have a united worship experience. You will find all sorts of people here. Rather than divide our church into conservative/liberal, young/old, or contemporary/traditional we worship together. Some of us dress casually while others wear formal attire. Generally, you will be welcomed and cared for by people who are friendly, unassuming, and genuinely happy to see you.
Children are welcome in the worship service. We like to say that “healthy churches have teething-marks on the back of their pews.” Elementary age and younger invited forward for a “children’s story” early in the service after which the younger children are invited to Children’s Church. A sound-proof “cry room” is available in the balcony for the benefit of distressed infants (and their parents/care-takers). Nursery is available for infants through preschool during worship and Sunday School.
Our facility is fully accessible and areas are provided in the sanctuary for wheel chairs and other mobility devices. These areas are in the middle of the room as well as the back and front.
Large-print hymnals and bulletins are provided.
